The effects of corset training have been debated for several decades. It is not a new topic to discuss in these modern times. Corsets have been around for centuries and women, who are naturally drawn to all things beautiful, have discovered several ways to make them more appealing, decorative and even functional. In the realm of the practical, wearing corsets have been known to alter the female form significantly.
Some may argue that the effects are temporary, but you cannot deny the difference it makes for first use. Your body will look more trimmed, and you will discover curves that you didn’t know existed. It can make you more curvaceous while wearing a fitted dress even if your original body is thicker than most women. We think that wearing corsets has many advantages and disadvantages yet women are willing to accept them because the good outweighs the bad.
So it has been talked about that corset training can be useful to a particular group of women while other women find it ineffective for their bodies. The fact remains that women’s bodies are all unique and require different methods of fitness to be in better shape. Now, we will discover the real issues that women who undergo corset training encounter. They are in the form of interviews to make it easier for women to relate.

Corset Training Interviews
Melly

I: How long have you been doing corset training?
Melly: I started two years ago, a day after my birthday. I like wearing corsets and how it changes my body for the better.
I: How many hours do you wear corsets in a day?
Melly: I have been consistent with wearing corsets. On a daily basis, I wear it for an average of 7 hours. Sometimes, I skip a day, but I am confident that it’s not going to be a big deal since I have been doing this for a long time already.
I: Does corset training transform your life?
Melly: I can vouch for the effectiveness of corset training in my life. It has changed the way I perceive and live my life, for sure. I am happier with the control that I get while wearing corsets. My family thinks I’m more pleased when they see me wear a dress. I used to be self-conscious about that. My husband loves that change in me, and that’s a big deal for me.
Melly is just one of the thousands of women that corset training has influenced. She is elated with the positive changes that her body and her life have undergone throughout this journey. Also, Melly has dedicated some of her spare time to tell women about the benefits of corset training on her blog. She is more confident from past in her own words because she has firsthand experience of the significant effects.
Tanya
We introduce you to another corset trainer named Tanya. Tanya was a 17 when she started wearing corsets. She was overweight and was always bullied in school before she discovered the wonders of corset training.

I: How did corset training change your view on life?
Tanya: I am so thankful I discovered corset training when my life was about to fall apart. Girls my age would bully me, and they didn’t think I was worth befriending. Their words and actions were harsh and hurtful. I was bulimic then, and I wanted to take my life because of misery. My sister gave me a red corset to wear underneath my clothes. I went to school with a different aura, almost confident because my love handles were hidden. Every day, I would wear corsets, and I ate small portions of food. My life started to change for the better.
I: Can you tell us how you incorporate corset training into your life?
Tanya: What I do is wear the corset everyday underneath whatever clothes I decide to wear that day. It is not noticeable, but I can see that my body shape looks firmer than before. I wear it for 4 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the afternoon. It is always at the same time each day. I work out with my corset on, and I can feel my sweat just coming out of my body. It feels excellent. I work out with friends now who wear corsets as well. It’s a different kind of happiness.
I: What is your advice to girls who want to try corset training?
Tanya: I hope you do it for the right reasons. Corset training will not give you overnight success. You have to be realistic in your expectations. Just wear it one day to feel better then you can assess yourself and find out if you like it. Let me just burst your bubble right there. It’s not going to be comfortable at first. As a matter of fact, it will sometimes be painful, but you have to endure because you’re a girl who is strong, capable and smart. You will figure out a way to make corset training work for you. Your body may react differently from mine so don’t give up too quickly. Enjoy the self-confidence you will get from corset training! Best of luck!
Eight Things You Should Know
After reading the feelings of Melly and Tanya, do you understand that waist training is adequate but not accessible? There are eight things you need to be clear about before you officially join the ranks of training waists.
1. The Slenderness That Comes with a Corset Is Immediate.
Your figure does become curvy when you wear a waist trainer, but once you take it off your body will become the same as the beginning. The so-called waist training effect may also be just your mental effect. In this case, you can only wear a waist trainer all the time to maintain your ideal body shape.
2. The Weight Loss Effect May Be Temporary.
Wearing a corset brings a sense of urgency and sweat, and may have the effect of eliminating fat. But in the long run, waist training doesn’t help you lose weight because your body is quickly restored to its original state when you take it off.
3. The Waist Trainer May Cause Your Body Dehydration.
Many people know that the wearing waist trainers with exercise can lead to better effect, but the resulting body temperature rise and excessive sweating may lead to dehydration. If you want to avoid this situation, it is necessary to ensure adequate water intake during waist training.
4. It Can Displace Organs.
When you wear a corset too tight, it puts too much pressure on the body, causing some organs to leave their natural position. This is likely to cause abnormal food intake, constipation, and acid reflux.
5. It May Affect Your Breathing.
If you wear a corset for a long time or too tight, your breathing may be affected, because prolonged pressure or too tight squeezing on the abdomen can make it difficult to breathe.
6. Your Back Muscles and Abdominal Muscles May Disappear.
When you start using your waist trainer to support your body, your back muscles and abdominal muscles become idle. In some cases, these muscles will gradually weaken or even disappear.
7. A Corset Can Also Pose Other Health Risks.
Wearing a waist trainer may cause complications in many areas such as the lungs, skin, and kidneys. Therefore, you may want to avoid wearing a waist trainer for long periods of time.
8. Do Not Use It If You Are a Minor.
For young people who are not yet mature, waist training can bring a potential permanent health risk.
Most women we talked to generally liked corset training, but some people had bad reviews about it. We have different thresholds for pain, and we must admit that not every one of us can handle regular discomfort. This is to be expected with corset training. If you just have a mental picture of yourself wearing corsets and you find it too tedious then perhaps, it’s not the solution for you. What we love about corset training is that you have the option to control your body transformation. You can tighten or loosen the lace/string that shapes your body.
Having to have a long-term goal with corset training is what would help in the end. Don’t be afraid to set goals for yourself especially when you start seeing progress. Better yet, you can plan your corset training and make a spreadsheet file of your progress on a weekly basis. Don’t do it daily. You can’t be too hard on yourself, also. What you can record is your daily time in wearing corsets such as how many hours you will be wearing corsets for a continuous period. Corset training can be done 6-8 hours a day. If you want to be more flexible, you can do 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours at night. It also depends on your lifestyle and how much of it you want to alter to accommodate corset training. Remember that this type of training requires minimal work, but you have to be committed for it to yield significant results.
More Corset Training Interviews
Beyond Melly and Tanya, we corresponded with more women who were generous enough to share their journeys. Their stories add a lifestyle-integration angle and a research-first angle that round out the picture of what waist training can and cannot do.
The Notion of Control
We live in a world obsessed with image. Many women want to be seen as in control of their image, striving for confidence and self-awareness through how they present themselves. The waist training trend speaks directly to that mentality because it offers a sense of control: the ability to shape your body the way you want and to wear clothes that complement your figure. The actual experiences of women who have tried waist trainers or corsets give the clearest insight into both the benefits and the disadvantages.
A Conversation with Leena Claire
We met Leena at the gym while she was doing her crossfit training, and she kindly agreed to a casual sit-down interview. Leena is a mother of two teenage daughters who lives an active lifestyle today, though it was not always that way: she was overweight two years ago before she discovered waist training.
What was on your mind when you first tried a corset?
Leena: I shopped for a floral corset because I had to attend a dinner party with my former high-school classmates. I wanted my body to look good and to feel good about myself. I tried it without any intention of waist training, but I was happy with how it transformed my body the minute I wore it. My curves were accentuated in the dress I chose. It was unbelievable.
Did that experience inspire you to undergo waist training?
Leena: Absolutely. Wearing that corset hid my flaws, and I wasn’t so insecure at the party. When I chatted with a couple of girlfriends, they told me they were doing waist training and were raving about it, but they cautioned me to keep a realistic view. They wanted me to understand that waist training is not for everybody, but that I should give it a try to see if it would work for me. I also wanted to set a good example for my daughters, so I told them I’d try it for a month, and they were supportive.
How long did it take to see results?
Leena: I saw significant results after six months. It was hard at first because corsets and waist trainers are uncomfortable to wear, but I persevered. My weight decreased, and I became healthier.
Did you have to diet during that period?
Leena: Of course. My intention was a well-balanced lifestyle. It started with waist training, but eventually I began controlling my portions, eating in moderation, and cooking healthy meals for my family. My lifestyle now is pretty active since I do crossfit regularly, and I complement that with wearing corsets about five hours a day to help maintain my weight. My daughters also wear corsets, but I advise them not to be too rigid about it since they are still young; I just want them to be healthy. We even started a blog together detailing our story and progress, which has become an enjoyable shared hobby.
A Conversation with Patty: Do Your Homework First
Patty’s story is for the woman who likes to research before she commits. Before she ever started, she read hundreds of online articles and five books on the subject so she would know exactly what to expect and set realistic expectations. That preparation paid off: she reached her ideal weight in a year and a half, then sustained it with a simple diet and exercise routine. Her advice is straightforward: educate yourself first, and treat waist training as one supporting habit rather than a standalone fix.

Important Health Note
These interviews are personal accounts and are not medical advice. Some women’s experiences with body image and weight can overlap with serious conditions such as eating disorders. Waist training should never be used to restrict eating or replace balanced nutrition and exercise. If you or someone you know is struggling with disordered eating, body-image distress, or thoughts of self-harm, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional or a mental-health helpline. Always consult a doctor before beginning any waist-training, dietary, or exercise program, especially if you have existing health concerns.
